First and foremost, we’ve got some winners from Tuesday’s contest. Congratulations go to Libby who won Whole Grains, Every Day, Every Way by Lorna Sass and Joanna who won Artisan Bread in Five Minutes A Day by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoë François. Thank you to all who participated in the contest.
I have two last cookbooks to give away for the year. These two books are undoubtedly helpful for those following special diets. What I like about these two books is that they’re filled with delicious recipes that anyone can enjoy, but make great reference for learning to cook for a friend or family member trying to follow a special diet. Nothing says you care like cooking up a special, gluten free dish that your loved one can indulge in.
The Vegan Table: 200 Unforgettable Recipes for Entertaining Every Guest at Every Occasion by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, author of The Joy of Vegan Baking. The title pretty much sums up this amazing book. Chock full of beautiful photographs and witty tips and tricks for vegan cooking and entertaining, we like this book because the recipes look easy to tackle and most ingredients can be found in your average supermarket. If you’re a die-hard meat lover, I cannot guarantee that this book is for you. For those of you looking to try something new won’t be disappointed.
1,000 Gluten-Free Recipes by Carol Fenster can safely be called Joy of Cooking for special diets. A close friend of the Mill, Carol has outdone herself with her latest book. She covers how to prepare everything from a basic muffin to Mustard-Sage Crusted Pork Tenderloin with Pear-Cranberry Compote. This book brings together all of the best in Carol’s repertoire- tips for what ingredients to use and where, how to convert your favorite recipe to be gluten-free and the basics of what the gluten-free diet is and why it is so important for some people. Beyond being mouth-watering, Carol’s recipes are easy-to-follow and understand. She has classified recipes that are vegetarian and quick-to-make for easy reference.
To enter for your chance to win one of these books, leave me a comment below and tell me which book you’d like and why you want to know more about that type of baking/cooking. Do you have a friend or family member on a special diet, or are you just needing more ideas for yourself. There’s no wrong answer! I’ll select a winner randomly from all who enter by midnight on Sunday, Dec. 20th.
